Position Summary
Works with the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences, the Chief Business Officer (OHS), the Chief of Staff (OHS) and the Chief Financial Officer (OHS) to synthesize strategic priorities into manageable projects; manages multiple projects across key stakeholders related to the MSU Office of Health Sciences, including the three human health colleges and MSU Health Care Inc, as well as other units within and across the university and its various external partners. Responsible for coordination and completion of projects on time, within budget and within scope. Uses a project management software application/tool to track progress of projects. Maintains comprehensive documentation of projects, including issue log and resolution set. Prepares reports for leadership and other stakeholders regarding status of projects.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year degree program in project management, business, or other appropriate field of study; three to five years of progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in project management business analysis, facilitating/training with a focus on business management; workflow process analysis and implementation of strategic initiatives or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Five or more years of progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in project management with demonstrated knowledge of project management concepts; experience with project management applications and tools and ability to work with people within and across organizations at all levels; Master’s degree or certificate in project management is a plus; strong organizational skills, attention to detail, teamwork, problem solving and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously; demonstrated ability to take initiative to work through barriers but savvy enough to know when to escalate; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; proficiency in Microsoft Office products and project management applications; thorough knowledge and working experience with at least one project management software application such as WorkZone, Trello, Asana GaantPro or similar.
