Product Development and Innovation Analyst

COUNTRY Financial is seeking a Product Development Analyst to join our Product Development and Innovation team. Your role will be to identify and prioritize auto products/enhancements that will help match price to risk and grow our auto book of business. You will conduct internal and external research, work with business partners, and socialize the product to build a business plan that will be used to implement the product/enhancement in production.

This position is accountable for product premium volume growth and profitability results within assigned line(s) of business. Manages relationship of every aspect of assigned product through interaction with relevant departments, such as Claims, Underwriting, Sales/Marketing, Customer Service, and outside contracts (agents, regulators and industry groups). Develops action plans and strategic direction for functional areas and maintains alignment with product managers to ensure successful development of the entire product line. Participates in the analysis, maintenance, implementation, and development of products and programs, including pricing, procedures, research, and underwriting to support Product Management leadership with the continued development of profitable growth. Files changes with the department of insurance anticipating potential questions from the department and providing adequate information with the initial filing.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we are currently limiting the number of employees in our offices. This position will begin working in a remote capacity and will be expected to return to the assigned office location following a broader return to work announcement.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the successful development of new products and the effective management and enhancement of existing products by making recommendations regarding product design, pricing, underwriting, agency management, distribution, claims and other processes.
  • Ensures overall goals for production and underwriting profitability are met by analyzing premium rates, loss experience and retention.
  • In conjunction with marketing, develops line(s) of business profit and growth strategies and translates business ideas and market opportunities into new product ideas by researching and maintaining awareness of all major competitors' current market positions (i.e., rates, service levels, financial positions and operating strategies), business directions, financial dynamics, and new technologies.
  • Communicates and coordinates key profit metrics by coordinating with the Information
  • Technology (IT) department to ensure proper implementation of rate revisions, new products, new product features, and other initiatives; develops working relationships with Accounting, Actuarial, Claims, Customer Service and IT.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An innovative mindset to develop products that set COUNTRY Financial apart from our competitors
  • A strong understanding of auto insurance and/or auto telematics is preferred
  • Has the ability to create a business plan, influence people, research, and prioritize
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple business partners simultaneously to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present small or large group presentations

Required Qualifications:

Typically requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of product management or related experience OR,
  • Master’s degree and no experience OR,
  • At least 4 years of product management or related experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Work may extend beyond normal business hours as business needs dictate.
