Job Description

• Determine material, labor requirements, and prepare itemized lists for estimating and project management
• Select vendors or subcontractors and determine cost-effectiveness
• Develop and establish strong relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors
• Effectively communicate to ensure project execution plan, regular updates, and effective project closeout
• Provide process improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs
• Manage staff, oversee work schedules, assign specific duties, prepare and deliver performance reviews
• Handle and execute required warranty work and maintain contact with the owner to ensure customer satisfaction

Requirements

• Master and Journeyman licenses for the State of Iowa
• 7-10 years of experience in project management
• College degree preferred but not required
• Estimating experience - proficiency in mechanical systems knowledge
• Experience in a lead or supervisory role with responsibility for the productivity or development of others
• Knowledge of mechanical codes, utility standards, and safety programs and guidelines of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI, equipment manufacturers, and others
• Ability to relate to people at all levels and to communicate both on a technical and non-technical basis

Responsibilities

• Oversee project success, including project financials and client satisfaction
• Act as a mentor and coach to Assistant PMs and PEs
• Foster and build relationships with owners, design partners, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Participate in pursuit, preconstruction and business development strategies
• Perform estimating and bidding
• Assist with scheduling.
• Prepare and review project documentation.
• Manage subcontractors.
• Assist with the cost control for the project.
• Attend all project meetings.
• Complete post-construction punch lists and documentation.
• Participate in business development activities (client functions, design firm open houses, conferences, etc.)
  
  

Requirements

• Four-year degree in engineering, construction management or related degree
• 5+ years of related experience, including experience with self-perform capabilities
• Demonstrated experience building strong partnerships and trust with external partners, including owners, owner's representatives, design firms, and subcontractors
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Thorough and detail-oriented
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task within time constraints
• Self-starter and motivated with minimal supervision
• Strong computer skills, including Excel
• Estimating and field experience a plus
• Scheduling experience preferred

• Experience with Microsoft Project Professional
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
