Job Description

Terracon’s Buffalo/Rochester office has an immediate opening for an experienced Asbestos Consultant/Industrial Hygienist to take on the Asbestos/IH Senior Project Manager role and lead a growing team. The successful candidate must possess a broad range of asbestos/industrial hygiene experience, strong writing and editing skills, solid business development and client communication/management skills.

In this role you will help create a strategy for growing asbestos/industrial hygiene clients (business development); prepare complex proposals and quotations to ensure proper scoping of services and project risk management; ensure the availability of manpower and pricing to render a profit; advise, inspire performance, and mentor Asbestos/IH department personnel, helping them to advance their careers and professionalism.

You will also manage Asbestos/IH projects. These duties may include completing the project as per its contracted scope; monitor progress and performance against the project plan. Troubleshoot and recommend or resolve operational problems and minimize delays. May be responsible for resource management, project scheduling, budgets and forecasts, and working with external vendors, subcontractors or contractors. Conducts meetings and prepares reports to communicate the status of the project to project team and client. May have responsibilities to communicate with the client and deliver work products to satisfaction of client.

Position Responsibilities

  • Preparation of proposals and cost estimates and ensure the work is done with high quality and client satisfaction.
  • Inspiring, mentoring and mentoring department personnel.
  • When necessary, performing field studies including asbestos, airborne chemical monitoring, noise monitoring, and indoor air quality.
  • Investigating workplaces to identify physical and chemical risks.
  • Design, communicate, and implement a project plan for completing a project.
  • Resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
  • Prepare designs and work specifications; develop schedules, budgets and forecasts; select materials, equipment, project staff, and contractors.
  • Partner with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources for the project.
  • Conduct project meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team.
  • Coach and mentor project staff and assist them to solve problems.
  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.

Requirements:

  • CIH (and/or CSP) Preferred. A minimum of 10 years’ of comprehensive industrial hygiene and asbestos experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or Engineering, Public Health or Environmental Science preferred
  • Licensed in one of the following: Asbestos Inspector, Abatement Designer, Project Manager, Contractor
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Must possess strong writing and communication skills.

  • Works with sales strategy to develop consistent communications to the field and to align with sales strategy for the entire lifecycle of the customer. Acts as key partner for sales enablement.
  • Monitors competitive environment and adjusts plans to meet future opportunities.
  • Partners closely with the customer experience team to develop and implement the customer journey strategy.

Responsibilities

    • Be the Executive Creative Director’s right hand.
    • Establish processes that help the Creative team run smoothly internally and cross-functionally with other teams.

    • Monitor department workload to assist the Executive Creative Director in assigning teams to projects.

    • Get the lay of the land and have a lot of Zoom coffees in order to onboard and integrate into Toptal.

    • Take a deeper dive into understanding the functions you will be working with across Toptal and begin meeting key teammates and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of creative operations/project management experience in an agency or in-house.
