Robert Half Finance and Accounting has teamed up with a world-class, institutional investment management firm to assist in the recruitment of a Finance Project Manager.
 
The hiring company highly prefers a PMP designation and SCRUM Master is also highly preferred.
 
A candidate with strong exposure to investment management, project management is also highly preferred.
 
Title: Finance Project Manager (requires financial services industry exp)
 
Job Description: This Finance Project Manager will lead strategic and tactical initiatives to improve and/or better position the company. The primary responsibilities of this critical position will be to ensure the timely and effective delivery of specialized investment focused projects (IT, accounting, operations), which range from small to large in size and involve a combined business and technical approach. All Project Management principles will need to be applied, inclusive of a participatory and proactive engagement acumen. An indication of responsibilities is below, however flexibility in this position is necessary dependent upon project structure, goal, and point of engagement.
 
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Apply Project Management Framework and oversee all project activities
  • Implement and adhere to established policies, process, procedures, system monitors and controls to ensure the successful management and reporting of all corporate initiatives in the program/projects through the project management office (PMO)
  • Work with stakeholders to develop system and project requirements, timelines and resources Additional Responsibilities:
  • Leading the project staff to oversee the impacts and interdependencies between programs/projects and working to ensure initiatives meet the goals and objectives of the senior management and executive leadership team
  • Providing both verbal and written communications regarding project status, risks, issues, and other project related items related to projects/programs deemed your responsibility based on PMO ordnance.à
  • Identify, manage, analyze and prepare risk mitigation tactics & reports Qualifications: Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • PMP preferred
  • Scrum Master preferred Experience & Competency
  • 8+ years of experience in the management of complex projects in a fast paced environment
  • Financial Services or Investment Management Services experience strongly preferred
  • Proven ability and experience with the SDLC lifecycle and IT project delivery
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Business Optimization
  • Knowledge and practice of Agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of change management & project management principles, methodologies and tools preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with other business areas
  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges
  • Proven track record in delivering projects on-time and on budget
  • Expert use of various project management software tools

Job description

This position requires that someone has skills in both business systems analysis and project management and can work independently.

In this Project Manager position, you will share your knowledge of accounting functions and systems.

This is the right role for you if you enjoy handling multiple financial projects and keeping them on schedule.

In this role, the Project Manager and Business Analysts often work hand-in-hand on the detailed requirements documentation that may include data mapping to accounting systems to make sure of accurate accounting and reporting of transactions.

In addition to specifications assembled from the accounting leadership team, the business requirements must feature feedback from top participants from other functional areas. This long-term temporary employment opportunity is based in the Los Angeles, California area.

Responsibilities

  • Clarifies business requirements and business process design for the development team
  • Manages project sponsor expectations and deciphers business drivers, as well as recommends changes, when necessary, to project scope, timing, or resources to deliver strategic solutions
  • Orders priorities of concurrent project and support assignments and meet stakeholder expectations
  • Begins and works on work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status reports, issue management and risk mitigation
  • Starts new and precise governance approaches for the projects to result in constant communication and issue resolution
  • Works closely with business users to describe and research business requirements



Requirements

  • Previous accounting function with a key role in system projects is preferred in aspiring candidates
  • Experience in a range of project management software like Microsoft Project, SmartSheet or other similar applications
  • Ability to analyze complex business problems, propose effective solutions and understand and apply business vision and direction
  • Skills in business and technical requirements analysis, documentation, modeling and testing methodologies & development
  • Communicate with executive management, team members, business and technology professionals via both written and oral methods
  • Ability to apply independent judgement and act on it
  • Demonstrated knowledge of work flow coordination
  • Strong familiarity with Project Coordination
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • General familiarity with business analysis - Foundational knowledge in project management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of consulting
  • Adeptness in quality control
  • Project management process improvement experience
  • Possessing a Project Management and/or Business Systems Analyst Certification is a big plus for this position
  • Demonstrated success acting in a project management capacity
  • 3+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance & Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
