The Medtronic Diabetes Business is one of the most exciting, dynamic and challenging spaces in the medical device industry. More than 463 million patients worldwide suffer from diabetes and this is expected to reach close to 600 million in 10 years. The diabetes device industry is unique in that technologies available to monitor and manage diabetes are starting to converge with consumer electronics technology. As such, the decision dynamics are evolving: patients have a stronger voice in therapy choice, care is transitioning away from specialists, and the role of artificial intelligence is elevating care. Medtronic Diabetes is transforming its business to adapt to this change and create meaningful differentiation to drive customer preference and revenue growth.

The Program Manager - Transformation and Change will lead transformation initiatives across the Medtronic Diabetes Americas Region. This highly visible role will lead cross-functional teams to execute Americas work streams associated with Diabetes Enterprise-wide transformation projects. The Senior Program Manager will serve as the Americas liasson on enterprise-wide transformation core teams and provide the “Voice of the Business” for the Americas Region. The role will report to the Senior Director – Transformation and Change.

The role is highly dynamic, requiring strong management and leadership skills, and the ability to oversee and execute on multiple areas of work simultaneously. The role is expected to develop long-term strategic relationships with a wide array of stakeholders and leverage existing relationships within and across Medtronic. Success will depend on effectively influencing and negotiating across businesses and regions to drive alignment on objectives and clear paths to execution.

The problems this role will tackle are complex and undefined, requiring consideration of a wide range of commercial, financial, and strategic inputs and variables that impact multiple areas of the organization. The Senior Manager must have a strong ability to drive projects in a fast-paced matrix environment leveraging leadership and strong interpersonal skills.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide voice of the Americas business to transformation work streams that impact the Americas region.
  • Collaborate with leaders to understand and identify business requirements followed by collaboration to plan and execute key work streams
  • Lead major project work streams within large transformation programs and/or lead transformation programs led by the Americas region
  • Define and build the governance mechanism to actively track transformation and change plans including schedules, budgets, resources, interdependencies and anticipated benefits
  • Define project resource requirements and negotiate team assignments with functional managers, as required
  • Maintain oversight of Transformation risks and mitigation plans to ensure business and project objectives are met
  • Challenge teams to meet and exceed project goals and commitments
  • Provide routine status communications to the Senior Director – Transformation and Change as well as Transformation Project core teams.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in management consulting/BPO, M&A, integration, supply chain, strategy, process improvement, finance and/or operational excellence (3+ years with Advanced Degree)

Compensation

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $117,600 - $211,700 *(this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

  • Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

    Shift premium will be addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.

Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities

  • Administer and support quarterly phishing simulations with Colene technology.
  • Support annual user awareness training education module updates
  • Support SANS Sharable Content Reference Model (SCORM) integration with Workday and identify training modules that support role-based security awareness education.
  • Collaborate with information technology, privacy and other departments to support user awareness education maturity
  • Support monthly user awareness communication messages
  • Develop metrics and monthly trend security analysis threat reports
  • Maintain current knowledge of cybersecurity technology and security industry certifications
  • Maintain current knowledge of HIPAA, NIST, PCI-DSS, GDPR, FERPA, HITRUST requirements
  • Assist with regulatory program initiatives and compliance tasks
  • Design and implement enterprise wide cybersecurity user awareness program that meets Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) and Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.
  • Ensure that the security awareness program communicates security policies and requirements so that people know, understand and can follow them. Complete quarterly cybersecurity phishing exercises maintain annual user acceptance training program, and weekly user awareness messages.
  • Identify the top human risks to our organization and the behaviors we need to change to mitigate those risks. Develop and maintain a security awareness program that effectively changes these behaviors, so our employees act in a secure manner, reducing the most risk to our organization.
  • Create a positive program that engages employees, to include focusing on changing behaviors both at home and at work. Ensure that our security awareness program communicates our security policies and requirements so that people know, understand and can follow them. . Ultimately, we want our associates to demonstrate the same secure behaviors regardless of where they are or the devices they are using.
  • Structure and maintain cybersecurity user awareness program to be long term, so ultimately, we are not changing just behaviors but culture.
  • Implement a cybersecurity ambassador program
  • Coordinate and schedule cybersecurity guest speakers

Required qualifications

    • +3 years of professional experience with a minimum of 2 years of technical project management experience.

ABOUT THE LITERACY LAB: The Literacy Lab is a fast-paced, national non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide low-income children with individualized reading instruction to improve their literacy skills, leading to greater success in school and increased opportunities in life. We partner with school districts to add capacity in high-need schools to close the literacy achievement gap for children before third grade. The Leading Men Fellowship was established in 2016 in Washington DC, and has since expanded to include additional regions, including Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Richmond, Virginia. The Leading Men Fellowship launched in Richmond in 2018 and will expand in 2021-22 to Portsmouth, Virginia.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Manager reports to the national Leading Men Program Director and Virginia Regional Director, and is responsible for the following:

  • Leading the implementation of The Literacy Lab’s Leading Men Fellowship in Richmond and Portsmouth and ensuring fidelity to the research-based model in collaboration with other team members.
  • Managing, supporting, and building relationships with an Early Literacy Coach and at least 10 full-time Leading Men Fellows while creating a positive, motivating environment for all team members.
  • Building and managing relationships with school sites, principals, and school district officials.
  • Helping with the annual recruitment and placement of a diverse team of high-performing, full-time Leading Men Fellows, in partnership with the Recruitment Team.
  • Collaborating with Literacy Lab staff to ensure that Fellows have a positive, meaningful experience by planning and organizing a summer training institute and creating professional and personal development opportunities for Fellows throughout the school year.
  • Working closely with Literacy Lab staff and other members of the Leading Men team in other parts of the country to implement the Leading Men Fellowship’s personal and professional development curriculum through a series of Professional Learning Group sessions.
  • Supporting and coaching Leading Men Fellows in the selection of appropriate post-Fellowship college and career options.
  • Collaborating with local partners to identify, select, and train mentors to support Leading Men Fellows throughout the Fellowship.
  • Analyzing Fellow outcomes to drive success and make programmatic improvements; working closely with the Early Literacy Coach to use data to monitor the success of Fellows and students.
  • Serving as an ambassador to build support for The Literacy Lab with prospective funders, schools, and community partners through site visits and events.
  • Building a sense of community and bank of resources to support the Virginia Leading Men Fellowship Alumni network.
